Welcome to Our World!

Clay, Wine & Sunshine……who needs anything else!

Why do we acquire things?

Perhaps our most cherished and enduring possessions are those which make a personal connection or evoke an emotional response: satisfaction in the fulfilment of a purpose you didn’t know existed, pleasure in how something feels in your hands, the comfort of reminiscence or the simple joy of an elegant shape.

This is our ongoing creative journey. We make things to solve problems and answer unrecognised needs: to develop and evolve, to satisfy our desire to make each piece better than the last.  Every piece is unique with its own raison d’être and our metric for value is quite simple…

Grinability or the capability of an object to put a smile on your face, be it through form, function or pure indulgence.

One-offishness or the quiet satisfaction in the knowledge that you’ll never find another one quite like it.

Noodle factor or appreciation for the mental torment and creative wrangling involved in a difficult “birth”.

Balance or how well the end result justifies the cost and effort of making the damn thing in the first place!

There’s a piece of us in everything we make, these are our Things of Value… and we hope you’ll find yours here too.

Ian & Tina Scoley found pottery in 2016.

As an Industrial Designer, Ian has a hands-on approach to problem solving and is driven by user needs. He has an almost fanatical passion for precision, along with a very low tolerance threshold for imperfection… much to the irritation of those around him!

Tina, on the other hand, is a Graphic Designer & Illustrator who doesn’t worry about precision, but revels in surface pattern and artistic expression!

Luckily, opposites attract and Tina & Ian often collaborate on projects.

They work out of their home studio in Huntington Beach, California

Studio Pop-up Store

Along with the local art fairs we participate in, we often host a pop-up store in our front yard where we open the doors to the studio and blow the dust off the shelves. It’s always a mix of old, new and usually a shed load of bargains that perhaps didn’t hit Ian’s mark!! We always advertise on social & local media, but feel free to contact us directly for information on the next event.

We’d love to help you bring your ideas to life!
